Swine Flu

I really don't understand our government. We knew very well that Swine Flu (H1N1) was all over the world and we were very happy that we had no (nothing) reported cases of this flu in the country when every one was under pressure to contain this virus. We very well knew that it was killing people all over the world. But it seems that we have very short memories. So did we forget about the flu or did we just ignore it? We currently have over a hundred cases reported in SA. Other countries (Singapore) have thermal image scanner at their airports?

My message to our Health Minister and the Dept of Health is;
  • Watch - watch what the other countries are doing
  • Learn - learn the most cost effective way of prevention and cure, dont go and find the most expensive way of containing the virus
  • Adapt - implement what you've learnt effectively

Make-up in the traffic

You will not believe what I saw in the traffic this morning. I noticed going past Corlett Drive that a Tata Indica is driving very peculiar . I thought that the driver might be falling asleep or something. I was wrong. I saw this lady busy putting mascara on her eyelashes whilst driving in peak hour traffic at a speed of about 90km/h. The funniest thing I could see (from the other lane) that she already had enough mascara on her lashes, but she was still putting on some more! At one stage the traffic slowed down and I saw her poke her eye with the sharp end of the applicator. How she managed to drive after that remains a mystery. I had these images of her crashing into me so I just sped off!

My message to you lady is;

  • Less is more

  • Be careful with that sharp end, you might poke you eye out

  • Get up earlier so that you can do these things properly

  • You are a danger to other traffic users

Brusson Finance or Finance Assist

I received a call today from Brusson Finance and they claim that they can help me out (+- 6% savings) on my homeloan when I asked what I can help them with. So I asked where they got my details from and the guy on the other end replied "repeat business with Brusson Finance". I told him firstly that I am registered at the DMA (Direct Marketing Association) on the "Do not contact list" which he did not know anything about and secondly that I have never done business with them. So are they informing their agents something that is not the truth? Did the agent lie to me? I also requested that the call centre manager phones me back so that I can find out why they don’t comply. You guessed correctly no phone call…..

I then did a bit of investigation and found that they are called Finance Assist or Brusson Finance. They are listed on the Estate Agency Affairs Board as an invalid estate agent.
Their address is listed as 37 VORSTER AVE, JOHANNESBURG, 2091, GLENANDA
They also advertised in the Sowetan (see the photo) claiming all sorts of things.

I don’t have a problem with people wanting to make money but they should follow the letter of the generally accepted code of good practice. If someone is registered (why go though the register process if you are not serious about it) at the DMA and does not want to be contacted they should then NOT bother a person. It just shows you that they don’t do their homework.

I want to say to them. “Stay away from me and get your act together!”
